Jeff Lau is one of the most successful directors in Hong Kong. He is best known for writing, directing and producing Hong Kong style comedy. In 1990, his collaboration with Stephen Chow in ALL FOR THE WINTER turned into a huge hit in the Hong Kong box office which created a phenomenon of “Hong Kong Style absurd comedy”. They collaborated again in the highly acclaimed comedies, A CHINESE ODYSSEY PART I (PANDORA’S BOX) and A CHINESE ODYSSEY PART II (CINDERELLA). His 1993 EAGLE SHOOTING HEROES is a spoof of Wong Kar Wai ASHES OF TIME, using the same cast which including Brigitte Lin, Leslie Leung, Maggie Cheung, Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Tony Leung Ka Fai and Jacky Cheung.
He has written the screenplay for Cory Yuen’s SO CLOSE
