FORTISSIMO BOARDS HEDWIG FOLLOW-UP SHORTBUS

Fortissimo Film Sales has picked up international rights to Shortbus, the much-discussed sexually frank new ensemble piece from Hedwig And The Angry Inch director John Cameron Mitchell.

The film, in which Fortissimo also takes an equity stake, is an exploration of sexuality, art and music that tracks a group of people during a power cut in New York.

Casting is underway with production to begin in early 2005. Shortbus is written and directed by Mitchell and produced by Howard Gertler and Tim Perrell.

"What attracted us most to the project was the opportunity to work with one of the world’s most forward looking directors on this most unusual story. During a power outage in New York City we observe the full range of human relationships, sexuality and conflict. We believe that this unique film will capture the imagination of audiences worldwide,” said Fortissimo co-chiefs Wouter Barendrecht and Michael J Werner.
